Preliminary weekly schedule

We are living in a time of rapid economic, environmental, geopolitical, and social change that is challenging traditional economic models as never before, yet we continue to cling to neoclassical economics. As conventional wisdom is increasingly called into question, new ideas are emerging to solve the most pressing problems of our time. From climate change to social inequality—the need for innovative economic policies is becoming ever more urgent. At this moment, we would like to pause briefly and reflect on the contribution that pluralist economics can make to addressing these crises. That is why this year’s Summer Academy is dedicated to the central theme: Whose Economy, Whose Future? Purpose, Power, and Pluralist Alternatives.

The Summer Academy is an intensive, week-long program bringing together students, young researchers, and faculty. Through engaging workshops and in-depth debates, you’ll gain insight into various schools of economic thought and how they’re applied in both research and practice. We aim to challenge existing paradigms and actively harness the diversity of economic theories to shape a more just and sustainable future, as well as explore how we can take action in our personal lives.

Together with you, we will rethink economic policy for the 21st century, challenge existing paradigms, and explore the diversity of economic thought

You should know this!

We try to accept as many applications as possible to ensure lively discussions in every workshop group. Before you register, please make sure you are available to participate for the entire week (September 6–12).

The cost-covering participation fee is €180. There will also be an option to pay a solidarity contribution of €210 to financially support PluSa. Depending on our funding situation, we also hope to be able to reimburse a portion of travel expenses for all participants. Feel free to check out the FAQ, where you’ll find answers to the most important questions!

If you are unable to pay the cost-covering fee, please contact us — in this case, we are sure to find a way for you to participate anyway.

We warmly invite German-speaking and non-German-speaking individuals from all disciplines to apply, provided they are willing to spend a week with us immersing themselves in the world of heterodox economics and economic policy. If you have any concerns—for example, regarding language barriers, gaps in knowledge, limited mobility, or caregiving responsibilities—please indicate this in your application or contact us directly.
